O.K for the past few years I have been listening to a lot of drum and bass which has become my favorite genre of music and the more I listened to it the more i both loved and learnt about it. DnB being the underground genre that it is I wanted to find out about the opinions of the not so huge fan base it has and see what like minded people think but alot of the time i found the constant and frankly fucking irritating complaint of how DnB Was'nt as good as it was in 97 etc.

Its obvious music changes a lot and it needs too but what I cant seem to get my head around is how these "progressions" are actually making music better or not or if people just want to hate whats new.

There are major differences between the two no doubt but why is there a massive clash what is yet to come and hasn't already been enjoyed perhaps its the way that people just dweel on about they're major era or is it because all forms of music both electronic and live are starting to decline. For example a few months ago I brought DJ SS's the lighter 2007 on vinyl it was good tune but when I heard it I was seriously dissapointed It was no where as good as the kick ass classic from 1995 but on the other hand I more recently brought a 2003 pendulum remix of ed rush & op's bacteria needless to say it blew my mind but when I heard the original I just did not feel it at all a major disapointment so it goes either way.

This of course effects all music genre's for example when I flick on tv and watch the music channels I hate having to witness the fucking mockery that is commercial hip hop but I love the old school vibes such as RUN DMC (R.I.P jam master jay), House of pain and my favorate Herbie Hancock so I have major doubts whether Some of the best genres are starting to decline.

It also has effects on Individual artists My favorate group at the moment daft punk has really made me wonder when they at there prime. They're first album Homework which came out in 97 was awesome and countless people claim it was they're best although it was good it was'nt until the turn of 2000 when we were graced with discovery (my personal favorate woohoo ^-^) and the not as major but still fantastic human after all which contained smashers such as Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger, one more time and technologic but still they're old school archive had da funk & around the world so when were they at they're best?

Its left me wondering for a while so i want to hear you're thoughts below are some youtube videos showing some tunes which have really stood out to me From the old and new school Tell us you're thoughts on which is better
